   Procedures Medical Tattooing

Medical Tattooing is used to simulate natural pigmentation of the skin. It can be used to recreate an areola after breast reconstruction and even out skin tone where there is a lack of pigmentation.

Advancements in technology have expanded the medical tattoo field to include cosmetic tattooing or microdermal pigmentation.  These cosmetic tattoo processes are used to improve the appearance of individuals with medically related physical imperfections.

Medical micro pigmentation techniques can be applied in many ways:

- Skin camouflage helps improve the appearance of persons with skin diseases and reduce
  the appearance of scars.

- Reconstructive camouflage helps post-mastectomy patients by creating a nipple and areola
  on the new reconstructed breast.

AREOLA PIGMENTATION: Who is a candidate and how is it done?
Candidates for areola pigmentation are men and women who have had breast reconstruction surgery.  As the final step of the surgical process, we are able to give our patients the appearance of a natural areola and nipple.  The procedure takes about 30 minutes per side.  If the patient feels any discomfort, topical anesthetic is applied.

SCAR CAMOUFLAGE: Who is a candidate and how is it done?

Many of our clients feel their natural appearance has been diminished as a result of burns, disease, accidents or surgical trauma.  Using a precise hand piece, our licensed esthetician camouflages hypopigmented (white) scars by implanting custom-matched, flesh-colored pigment directly into the scar.
